FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

    1. What do your organic terms mean?

Wild organic means naturally occurring on unpolluted land. This may be wild, private or public lands, or old farmlands that have not been used in 30 or more years. We also look for land that is not downwind or downstream of pollution and have no history of heavy metal contamination such as roads or industry.  Organic means grown in an organic garden by me or other local growers but not certified as USDA organic.

    2. Is your alcohol organic?

As of 2026 going forward it is organic, kosher, vegan, gluten-free.  As stock turns over it will be labeled as such. It is grain alcohol made from mixed grains. Cane alcohol is sometimes used but is not available here.

    3. Where do you forage your plant material?

We forage in the NYS Finger Lakes, which has a humid continental climate, and the NYS Adirondack Mountains, which have a boreal climate great for mushrooms and bog plants.

    4. Where do you buy plant materials?

As much as possible from local growers. Our beeswax is always local. We also purchase from established vendors here in the U.S. We prefer plants grown in the U.S. or Europe. We do not purchase from China, nor do we purchase from large online marketplaces where adulterated and fraudulent products sometimes appear.

    5. Are you going to offer glycerites or oxymels etc.?

Not anytime soon. Glycerite tinctures and oxymels are not in sufficient demand at this time.

    6. Do you ship internationally?

No. Regulations about shipping alcohol are too complex and salves that wind up sitting in a customs warehouse and spending a long time in transit are not climate controlled.
