Gotu Kola is rich in triterpenoids, phytochemicals that are strongly anti-inflammatory, may help stimulate collagen production, and promote angiogenesis, the formation of new capillaries. It also contains plenty of tannins, which are astringent and antioxidative.

It has a long history of use in both Ayurveda, and Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is believed to help focus, memory and age-related cognitive decline, heal wounds, calm the nerves, prevent seizures, and promote healthy circulation. This study provides a good overview of its uses and benefits.1
