Eastern white pine needles, Pinus strobus, are a traditional remedy for common ailments. They are high in vitamin C and are antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial. They are traditionally used for colds and cough, respiratory inflammation and congestion, scurvy, and as an antiseptic and mild diuretic.

Pinus strobus needles are rich in terpenes, flavonoids, phenolic acids, vitamins, and other bioactive compounds. Alpha-pinene and germacrene D are the most bountiful in Eastern white pine. In addition to being antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial, Alpha-pinene is a bronchodilator and germacrene is anti-fungal and is being investigated for a wide variety of potential benefits. This tincture can be used externally on athlete’s foot fungus.

Suggested Dosing: Tincture: 2 ml 2-3x day

Side effects: Allergy

Contraindications: Not for use while pregnant or breastfeeding. May interact with blood thinners and diabetes medications. Can cause asthma in people allergic to pine pollen.
